Seasons: EmmaField FSX comes with a custom seasons file that controls the distribution of FSX seasons based on real-world data such as monthly MODIS satellite snow/ice coverage. We include custom textures that get rid of the default winter "sand" textures and other oddities. Also, high-elevation lakes can be made to "freeze" in the winter through an option in the configuration panel.

KSHN Sanderson, in "mild" winter (no snow on the ground).

Duckabush Ranges, Olympic National Park, in winter. Too much forest and too little snow in FSX default.

Olympic Mountains from south of Sequim, in early winter. As in the real world, the treeless forest cutblocks at higher elevations are snow covered whereas lower-elevation cutblocks are free of snow.

The following three sets are not comparisons with the default landscape but rather show the progression of seasons in Emma Field FSX, near Sequim. This first set compares March and April; note how the mid-elevation forests and cutblocks turn from winter to spring.

This set compares early summer (June) with fall (October).

The third and final set compares "normal" December in the lower areas of the Olympics (no snow on the ground) to a situation just after a rare snowfall.
